Woosah

I can't believe the climax of this story is 10 weeks away.  I should edit that.  The climax of this chapter is 10 weeks away.  "Woosah."

We are going to our midwife every 2 weeks now.  If you would indulge me in a little gloating.  My blood sugar is 67 and blood pressure is 100/54.  I don't have answers to how to achieve this.  Genetics? Diet? Exercise? A positive disposition?  Most likely, as much in life,  it is a combination of all.

Bradley Method classes started last Sunday.  Imagine a small room with a circle of chairs.  During the class the instructor talked about relaxation, exercise, and nutrition... for 3 hours.  Now insert Justin Jeffrey Staublin with no outlets or toys (Ipod).  Just sitting for 3 hours.  The poor man.

At the beginning of the class we went around and introduced ourselves.  I think my introduction of myself and Justin sums up my thoughts on pregnancy and childbirth at this stage.

"Hi, we are Natalie and Justin.  I'm 30 weeks pregnant with our first child.  SOO right about now I have an elbow in my hip (I point to said hip)."

I wait for laughter.  YES, they laugh.

"The reason we are taking Bradley Courses is my desire to let what nature intended take its course.  Women have been doing this for thousands of years.  I want to trust that my body knows what to do."

They all nod their heads knowingly.

"Of course that said, I have a RN brother playing devil's advocate saying things like,  I support you Natalie.  However, do you know what an episiotomy  is?"

More laughter and a successful introduction.

I do want to end on a slightly more serious note today.  I know let it sink in.  We all deal with over exhaustion and over obligation.  I mean we are Americans- GO GO GO and Conquer!  Now insert any other little stress or circumstance and negative energy infiltrates our bodies and souls.  Eleanor Roosevelt once said, " I would rather light a candle than curse the darkness."  Woosah.  Let it go.

Well, if all else fails we can wheels up in 10, head to Spain for a Siesta and a 16 week PAID maternity leave.  (I'm just saying, sounds like a plan).

Below is my 30 weeks pregnant  picture.  I am about to enjoy what is left of an Indiana summer at the pool.

Changes

Things Quinn Needed- ballerina socks and knit flower hat

Top: 8 Weeks, Bottom: 27 Weeks

Center Field vs. Homeplate

Welcome to week 27!

Weight Gain: 17lbs
Emotions: Erratic
Physically: Need a Chiropractor

This morning I had my initial screening for gestational diabetes.  So, I walk into the office and the nurse hands me a bottle of orange liquid.

I say, "So, you're telling me I should drink the kool-aide?"

Blank Stare.

I say, "Alrighty then."

All is well in baby Staublin world.  She is still very active.  We are deciding if we should splurge for the 3d ultra sound or not.  Also, whether maternity photos are neat or self involved?

Add to Emotions: Indecisive

Okay one more story.  Tuesdays I typically have off of work.  I typically watch Bringing Home Baby and A Baby Story from 9 am to 10 am (Add to Emotions: OCD).  Today, as I am watching, Justin walks in the living room right as the woman is delivering the baby (The baby's head was out but body was still inside her)

I say, "Justin, you don't want to look right now"

He looks, turns red, begins to sweat and gags.

I say, "I TOLD YOU NOT TO."

We have an epic adventure ahead of us.  Needless to say Justin will be opting for the (in his words) home plate camera angle verses center field.
