Okay, the past 4 weeks has brought a whirlwind of experiances. I don't know alot about anything (Can I get an Amen from anyone?). However, I'm about to give you my list of what I think is essential based on my experiance (enough discloure for you?).
Numero Uno- You need your Mama. My Grandmother would always go and stay with my mom and her sisters when they had their babies. Having my Mom with me, exspecially for my first, was the security blanket I needed to make it through the first week. The lactation consultant and nurse are not who instructed me best on "How to Breastfeed". It was my Mom.
Two- It truly takes a village to raise a child
Three- A baby book
Four- Be leary of bad advice. Trust sources you've trusted for a long time i.e Number one.
Five- Have a stiff one before the first Dr. appointment. It's not the crying I could not handle it was the shaking, crying, and looking at me with eyes that said "why are you letting this happen? help me!" After our first appointment, I sat in a chair, fed her, and cryed my eyes out.
Six- Depression is real. It is not a weakness of self. Being isolated, often the sole caregiver for hours on end is ALOT of pressure. See points one and two.
